BUSTED: No way! Being a member doesn't mean a huge time commitment. You can get as involved as much or as little as you like. Whether it's attending a meeting to share your ideas, helping from home, or volunteering at an event now & then, every bit helps! Even if you can't volunteer your time, your PTA membership alone shows your commitment to making a difference in our school.
BUSTED: Our meetings are all about connecting, sharing ideas, and making our school a better place. They are an important way to let everyone have a voice...but they are only scheduled 4 time a year (unless you are on the board!) No one is going to judge you for skipping a meeting if your schedule is packed. We are all volunteers, just trying our best!
BUSTED: Not even a little true! The majority of our PTA members are working parents. We're for all parents, guardians & family members! We have flexible ways for everyone to participate, whether it's online, after school hours, or pitching in during the weekends. We understand that every parent works hard, and appreciate every way our parent community contributes to our school!
BUSTED: While fundraising does help support our school & everything we provide, the PTA is about so much more! We organize fun events, support our school staff, and create an amazing school community for our kids. Being in the PTA also allows you to advocate for things you believe in!
BUSTED: EVERY parent has something special to offer, whether it is ideas, connections, or simply enthusiasm! Everyone's unique talents make a difference and are what make being in the PTA community amazing. You never know what you'll learn!
BUSTED: It's 2024...the PTA is for every parent - moms, dads, grandparents, guardians, you name it! We welcome everyone who wants to be involved and make a positive impact on the school community. Diversity is our strength!

The PTA is group of parents, teachers, and staff who work together to support the school. We organize events, fundraise for special events, & advocate for our kids' education. Basically, we are here to make the school a better place for everyone!
It's up to you! You can be as involved as your schedule allows. Some parents come to every event and meeting, while others help from home, or volunteer at occasional events. Every little bit helps, so don't worry if you can't commit to a lot of time. Principal Fergison has asked that every family (non-PTA members included) try to commit to 10 hours of volunteer time this year. It is a wonderful way to get more parents involved in the school and to lessen the work-load of those that always volunteer, but it is not a requirement to join the PTA. You can check out volunteer opportunities here or log your family's volunteer hours here!
Nope! While meetings are a great way to stay in the loop and share your ideas, we understand that parents are busy. We try to make information accessible through Parentsquare, Facebook, and other our newsletters to allow you to stay connected even if you can't attend. We also try to limit the amount of meetings, because we know your time is valuable. Check the annual calendar for General Body Meeting dates.
Yes, there is a small annual fee of $10 per person that helps cover our NCPTA dues, school events, and special projects. Your membership fee directly supports the school. If you have middle school students, one PTA membership is automatically included when you pay your mandatory middle school fee. If you would like to be a part of the PTA, but cannot pay the membership fee, please reach out to president@nawlpta.org. Your request will be kept confidential.
We welcome all parents, whether you are working full-time or have a flexible schedule. There are plenty of ways to contribute outside of school hours, like helping plan events, assisting with communications, or sharing your expertise online.
Absolutely! Even if you don't have time to volunteer, just being a member supports the PTA's efforts. Your membership helps fund important initiatives and shows that you are invested in making the school the best it can be.
We do a bit of everything! From Family Fun Nights & Books Fairs to school cultural events , and fundraising for school improvements, the PTA plays in big role in building our school community. Check our our General Events pages for details on some of the things we do!
Not at all! Everyone has something valuable to contribute, whether it's your ideas, time, or connections. No special skills required - just a willingness to help out and be part of our community.
By joining, you're directly supporting your child's school experience. You'll have a say in what happens at our school, meet other engaged parents, and make a real difference. Plus, it's a great way to stay informed about what's going on at school!
